I’ve never cut classes during my days as a student, I never was a fan of robots after the Power Rangers era, watching movies is a luxury for me but what I did last July 3 contradicted all these.

I went out for lunch with my former officemates, one of them celebrated her birthday so our meal was on her. It was fun to be with them, as always. We are about to go back to our respective offices when our former officemate who just resigned a few days ago came. The place where we had our lunch was just below the moviehouse and since most of us haven’t watched Transformers yet, our friend who just arrived mentioned watching the movie. Our reaction? we just looked at each other and smiled. Two others have already agreed since most of us need to go home by 8 o’ clock tonight making it impossible to watch the movie at 6PM, only me and another friend is still hesitant since the company we are working with right now is quite strict when it comes to time. But sometimes it’s really fun to do some crazy things and break the rules. So I went back to the office to get my things acting as if I was really in a hurry, without giving my officemates any chance to ask where am I going or what happened.

We reached Greenbelt 3 on time for the 2:45 PM showing, while waiting we played air hockey and basketball at Timezone, so high school/college right? These made me conclude that I really am a better student than as an employee, for today. Never did the idea of cutting classes for Timezone and movies crossed my mind during my younger years, oh well I’m not really that old yet, it’s never too late to break the rules for fun. So with big crazy smiles on our faces we entered the moviehouse and shared a bucket of popcorn, I never thought that Shia Le Beouf and Megan Fox along with Bumble Bee and Optimus Prime could make me do these.

After the movie at around 5:30 PM, we attended the 5:45 mass at the Greenbelt chapel, the homily was so fitting for my present situation, “Never doubt your faith”. One of my friends even joked that St. Thomas (doubting Thomas) is the patron saint of auditors because of professional skepticism. If I may say so, all 5 of us are/were auditors. After hearing the mass, one of our friends asked us to have dinner but we all are still full so we told him that if the dinner is on him we’ll go but if not we’ll just have dinner on our respective homes, whattafriends?..haha..

But that night, maybe this friend of ours was so happy for some reason or maybe he’s just so hungry that he agreed treating us for dinner. We had our all time favorite KFC bucket meal, it was so worth the ditching, a good movie plus two free meals and of course bonding with friends. To wrap up our meal, our friend who just resigned bought us a dessert. Just like kids we are strolling down the streets of Makati eating our ice cream.

No matter how fun a day is, it has to end so we said our goodbye after passing through our former office, the place where we found each other. Tomorrow will be our friend’s flight back home to Iloilo, she decided to work there, closer to her family. We’re truly happy for her because we know how close she is to her family but as her friends of course we’ll really miss her.

This day is really full of freebies, as if two meals and a dessert weren’t enough, while waiting for a cab a friend who has a ride saw us, so my ride to the MRT station is also free for tonight, yay!

I know it’s not good to ditch the office just like that but it was so worth it for me even without taking the freebies into consideration. It’s fun to bond with friends and have something memorable for a friend who we will not be seeing that much anymore because memories are the only thing that won’t change no matter how long it has been.

* Since we’re going to miss our friend so much, we just booked our flight to Iloilo by the end of the month. :)
